Nicole Kidman plays a role of a Russian bride

Soon the new movie "Birthday Girl" will appear on American screens with Nicole Kidman in the role of a Russian bride. John Buckingham (Ben Chaplin), a single, British bank clerk, feels, that it's time to end his loneliness and he decides to find a Russian bride through the "From Russia with love" Web site. He selects an attractive Nadia (Nicole Kidman) who claims to speak good English and seeks a husband.

Everything is perfect, except for one small problem: she can't speak English. The first evening they spent together in the modest John's house in the suburb of London was delightful, they were sitting at the table and staring at each other in silence.
But it's not the end of it, the directors say that it is a comic thriller and there are too many surprises in this movie.

For example, John is flabbergasted by the appearance of Nadia's cousins (Vincent Cassel and Mathieu Kassovitz), who show up for her birthday and never leave.

Critics say it's not a masterpiece of the movie theater; it sounds better than it is. They add that "Birthday girl" promises more than it can actually deliver. Sometimes Russian brides in catalogues promise more than can give to their future husband.
