Someone may believe that marriage agencies earn a lot of money. Actually, yes, it is a very profitable business. What is more, it is not difficult to start a marriage agency business in St. Petersburg. A usual one-room apartment can serve as an office which may cost 200-250 US dollars. The same amount of money is needed to buy a second-hand computer and around 500 US dollars will cost Internet and the phone per month. So, to sum it up, 1000 US dollars is needed to start this business.
That is how most of people think, but they are wrong. The problem is that the Russian brides market is quite limited. Most of the ladies who wished to leave Russia, have already doe this. The new generation is not that numerous. It is very good if an agency has at least 10-15 new ladies per month. Taking into the consideration that most of such agencies provide some additional services like (translation, horoscope, consultations...) this business is not that profitable. Though this business may be very promising.
According to the psychological research carried out by IKSI RAN, only 25% of Russian ladies are satisfied by their fate and consider their life to be good. But the majority believes that it is harder to live nowadays: to find job, to bring up children, to run the house and so on.
That means that marriage agencies will be always popular.
